Moving is awesome, highs and lows smashed into a tiny frame of time.

There was a great piece in The Atlantic (Stuck in Place) about how moving frequently used to be at the core of the American character. We prided ourselves on the opportunity and challenges that came with it. There was even a national holiday for it - Moving Day. We’ve lost a lot of that mobility but the message behind it still stands.

“We are a migratory people and we flourish best when we make an occasional change of base”

Couldn’t agree more, glad to see you’re keeping the spirit alive. Best of luck with the new scenery, cheers.

Nice. I used to do exactly same routine but just running through the cities, getting familiar, spotting the places. Hong Kong, Fukuoka, Singapore, Sydney etc. Unfortunately stopped drinking, and no longer run, but coffee shops and long walks still produce the results.

Hello Jack,

I’m currently a senior living in the co-ops at UC Berkeley, and I would love to hang out and show you around the campus if you would like to come over! Would be very cool to meet a Substack person in real life. Lmk.
